I was leaving it up to each to define what he or she believes each category means and, therefore, where he or she fits on the scale.

I thought I'd many times described myself here as a Super Extreme Introvert.

In the last five weeks there has only been one out of those 35 days that I've been in the presence of a human being (Oh, I have to amend to now two days based upon that 5 minute interaction I had with a neighbor last week).

Whenever I finally emerge from this I'll still bet that I will say, "I could have used at least one more day at home!"

I love going to live music and being at a music festival surrounded by people for 3 full days on end. But I'm also completely content to be by myself for days on end with no human presence or even on the telephone. I'd call that Extreme Introvert behavior.

My norm had been to come home on a Thursday night after basketball and not emerge back into the public until I left for my office on Monday afternoon. This is, of course, far more extreme than that nearly 4 day norm. But it does not feel like that much more.

Solid introvert here. I love solitude and often get lost in my thoughts in the middle of group conversations, but I need human interaction at least once or twice a week.

I chose mild intovert (introvert is consistent with my MB profile). When I encounter a group of people that I do not know, I stand back and size up the situation before engaging, if I do decide to engage at all. However, when I'm with a small group of good friends (2 to 10) I switch to behaving like a mild to moderate extrovert; I can do that for a couple hours but after that I prefer to "get out of Dodge" and be in a quiet environment or with my wife. I do not enyoy the bar scene or large crowds (large is anything more than 8 or 10 people).

I classified myself as Mild Introvert.

When Vinnie first set this poll up I did some Googling on "Ambivert". If you do a Google search for Introvert/Extrovert and take one of the many number of online quizzes out there, it seems like they like to classify you as one extreme or the other, which is too simplistic. Most of my life I've referred to myself as being an introvert, but I've encountered enough extreme introverts in my life to know that I'm *NOWHERE* close to being as introverted as them.

Definitely not. Monday through Thursdays would be working in my office, playing basketball twice a week with 20 others, playing softball twice a week with 15 teammates.

None of what you just described would seem to describe a "Super Extreme Introvert."

I can act like an extravert when the situation calls for it, but ... definitely introvert.

I can tell who the extraverts are in my social sphere because they are complaining bitterly about the stay/work at home situation. For us introverts, this is a much-needed break from the usual grind. I am deliriously happy to stay home and have a break from the frequent long-distance travel for conferences. I understand the need to reopen the economy and get everyone back to the usual level of activity, but for me personally....this has been a sabbatical that I have so desperately needed.

Because of my reaction to the lockdown, I picked "solid".

Hmm, I'm not so sure. I'd say some of those (introvert, patient, FIRE) might even be negatively related to current fertility rates. It's interesting to think about. I suspect if one were to do far-in-the-future studies, religiosity (esp. high fertility groups like Mormons/Hasids/Amish) will relegate these to minor roles.

Hmm, I'm not so sure. I'd say some of those (introvert, patient, FIRE) might even be negatively related to current fertility rates. It's interesting to think about. I'm an extrovert.
I'm not very patient but I am very persistent.
I can work from home and in fact enjoy it most of the time.
I'm financially independent.
I'm older but healthy.

So in other words, this generalization, like all generalizations, is false.

I think you mis-interpreted it the same way I initially did. At first I thought Ochotona was laying out all the traits of introverts. But I quickly saw that was not making sense. My next interpretation was he was just putting together a list of five opposites, with the ones on the left better suited to weather this virus environment with the ones on the right less so.

Yes, my wife is an INTJ.
As to the value of ISTJ's, I'm not so sure about that. I'd be happy to move to a country where only NTs are permitted as residents.
