Hello 2026
Hi All,
I do occassional lurking, but wanted to post and say hello to all. I'm still doing my Permanent Portfolio and have been to the US several times for work and see family. Things in the US (and New Zealand) have gotten very expensive as all the govt. spending is catching up and the bill is due. It has been interesting watching gold work as an inflation indicator as always.
Hopefully things can come under control, but the history of these currency systems is not very good. At least those in the US can rest easy knowing that New Zealand is managing their currency and debt just as badly as everyone else.
Portfolio wise things look good and I need to rebalance from gold. I overweight stocks with my VP and they have been pulling their own so no complaints. The cash and bonds have gotten pummeled a bit due to inflation and real rates of return. Eventually the worm will torn so I'll just hold my nose and do the purchases.
I hope you all are doing well. Happy New Year!

What Smith said.
Re: Hello 2026
Greetings from Australia Craig,
Things across the Tasman Sea are interesting as well. Do a search on Australian house prices!
All the best and thanks for saying hello to everyone.

Can't Find A Particular Craig R. Interview
Do you guys remember that one particular interview that Craig did about the PP where he mentioned his thoughts on Bitcoin?
If I recall, that particular interview was on the shorter side. Perhaps 20 to 30 minutes long. He mentioned that he didn't like the idea of Bitcoin as a long-term store of value due to the history of cryptographic standards being compromised and outmoded over time.
Anyone know what I'm talking about or have a link? I can't seem to find that particular interview anymore.

You are thinking of this one? He talks about cryptocurrencies towards the end of the interview.Smith1776 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 09, 2026 3:35 pm Do you guys remember that one particular interview that Craig did about the PP where he mentioned his thoughts on Bitcoin?
