Documentary: The Secret World of Gold

Post by smurff »

This played on Canada's CBC last week.  It's on YouTube, usually segmented in ten minute clips, but here's the full programme:

BTW, if the link does not work, just search on YouTube by the title.

Frightening to say the least. Unfortunately, possession of physical bullion does not isolate an investor from the impact of a manipulated commodity market.

Wow. This is a program that would warm the hearts of conspiracy theorists the world over. I saw some interesting facts cleverly blended with lots of sensational speculation. Some of the cast were like a Who's Who in the gold bug world. But it was very entertaining and for those who like looking at shiny bars of bullion gold this came damn close to porn.

I like the description of the bank building on Toronto, whose glass facade was made up of gold (50 grams per pane, if I heard right).
