Does anyone hold TLT in Vanguard Brokerage Services? Any problems?
I like Vanguard in general because (with mutual funds anyway) they don't seem to hit you with fees when closing an account.

I do, too. No problems at all. You can reinvest or pay to a cash account.
EDV also.
(I sold the EDV and am going to get rid of TLT when I can, but it's got nothing to do with Vanguard.
I just want to have pure treasuries held directly).

I also hold TLT in my VB account. No problems. Curious though as to what problems there could be. What are your concerns?

I do too. No problems. You do have to pay a trade commission to buy or sell TLT, though.

Re: Holding TLT in Vanguard Brokerage Services?
Having worked for so many years to accumulate my retirement portfolio, I am extra-cautious when trying something new. So in advance of placing some TLT with VG brokerage services, I wanted to sound out PPers to make sure it is a wise thing to do.Robert wrote: I also hold TLT in my VB account. No problems. Re: Holding TLT in Vanguard Brokerage Services?
I guess you probably have your reasons for using TLT instead of individual bonds but it is very easy to buy individual bonds through vanguard.
I had never bought bonds before and did so through vanguard very easily. They even calculate their current value each day for you as you hold them.
The one problem I ran into was that you can not place an order after hours. You have to buy them while the market is open.

The TLT will be purchased with fund now in a Roth IRA, as I want to maximize tax deferral until Required Minimum Distributions are required when I am 70 1/2 years old.whatchamacallit wrote: I guess you probably have your reasons for using TLT instead of individual bonds but it is very easy to buy individual bonds through vanguard.
