Google Docs glitch and the TLT ticker

Post by dualstow »

Today, Google docs (spreadsheets) is giving the company "Theralese Technologies" for the ticker TLT instead of the correct iShares fund  :)
That is, when I write

Code: Select all

=GoogleFinance(A10;"name")
"Theralese Technologies" is the output instead of iShares Barclays 20+ Year Treas Bond.

Does anyone else see this glitch?

In yahoo finance, where I don't have this problem with TLT, I am unable to find out what the real ticker is for Theralese.

Edit: oh gosh. VTI is showing up as Valdor Technology International Inc. and IAU As Intrepid Mines Limited. Has google docs been hacked?
Edit: Hmm, I think these are being read as if they are Canadian companies with a .V appended. VTI.V really is Valdor Tech.

I'm glad.  It's scary when that happens.  We get so used to using alphabets to describe the companies we invest in, it's unnerving when those alphabets come up with someone else's name appended to them.

Yeah, and I couldn't understand why google finance was producing the right results outside of google docs. Odd.
