Direct registration for Silver or Gold ETFs?
What ETFs for gold or silver allow direct registration of shares?
Re: Direct registration for Silver or Gold ETFs?
Does any ETF for anything allow direct registration of shares?
And what does direct registration mean when the share you are registering is actually just a representation of your interest in something else and does not represent ownership of or a claim on that something else?
About the closest I can come up with is if you are large enough to be considered an authorized participant in a particular ETF, which allows you to exchange the security(s) for the ETF shares and vice versa. But even there you either own the something else, or you own ETF shares representing your interest in the something else owned by the ETF.
Regular mutual funds when purchased directly from the fund sponsor might be considered direct registration. But still your share represents a proportionate interest in the underlying assets of the mutual fund, not that you own or have any claim on any of those underlying assets.
Compare this with direct registration of a share of company stock. Direct registration means that the company, thru their authorized agent, has recorded that you are an owner of part of the company and are thus entitled to all the benefits and responsibilities accorded any owner of your class.
