Herewith some "fun facts" about Shimer.
1. A few years ago it was listed as the liberal arts institution that sent the highest proportion of its graduates to the final degree in their field, e.g., PhD, MD, and the like.
2. Only about 1/4 of the entrants graduate. Therefore, anyone who graduates is in the top quarter of their class!
3. Several of the dorms on the campus where I attended were "one-minute" buildings. I lived in one of those dorms and was constantly terrified.
