Wow, very pretty! I'm guessing there's no way all these gardens and lakes are on that Manhattan island, but must be on the New York proper?

The Botanical Gardens are on East Fordham Road in the Bronx, across from the Bronx Zoo. Actually, both entities are in what is called Bronx Park which, I think is genuine forest primeval.I do not think there is any such forest condition in a big extended area.
A co-wqorker of mine lead the effort to restore the Bronx River. The river runs through both the Garden and the Zoo but it was a polluted hell hole. Now there are a couple of beaver dams and fabulous clear water. Turns out the zoo folks were dumping 3 tons of manure in the water, so I hear. That has stopped. All this in The Bronx.
That was the eastern extent of my childhood. The southern limit was Yankee Stadium.
Conclusion: save a river, rip down the Western Hemisphere's response to the Roman Coliseum.
So, MG, since I saw Muir Woods and Yosemite, you should visit the Bronx. Let us know.

Maybe you should submit something to National Geographic, or the AMC photo contest. These are lovely.
